Greening the Desert is a project undertaken in Jordan not for from the Dead Sea. They made trenches along the contour of the land so that rain water would collect and reenter the land, increasing the vitality of the soil. The salt in the soil returned to 20 ft above ground level and they were able to grow a food forest in the middle of the desert
